London?s two largest musicals: Priscilla Queen of the Desert The Musical and Sister Act both have extended their run dates after meeting rave reviews and sold out audiences this year.
Priscilla will continue to run eight months past its initially scheduled run at the Palace Theatre ending in May 2010 and Sister Act will run into next year as well extending its run by a whopping 11 months until December 2010.
Most people are familiar with the crazy antics of the nuns in Sister Act due to the Whoopi Goldberg film rendition, but for those who have yet to make it to Priscilla the plot is based around a trio of performers from Sydney who travel to the outback to perform.
The show is straight out of the seventies complete with a soundtrack of disco, two drag artists, and a singer who is transsexual and is a tale of love, friendship, and enough mishaps to make it a delight to sit through.
Also worth noting is the costume genius of Lizzy Gardiner and Tim Chappel who keep the cast looking outrageous in colorful monstrosities throughout the film.
Dreamboats and Petticoats will also extend its stay at the Savoy Theater until October, an additional six weeks, until Legally Blonde The Musical is ready to take its place on the stage.
