X Factor contestant for West End stardom

Diana Vickers, a former contestant on X Factor, will star in the West End Production of The Rise and Fall of Little Voice which is set to debut this autumn.

The story of the musical includes a little girl who is played by Vickers that is named Little Voice who grows up with an overbearing mother in North England. Throughout the play Little Voice listens to her passed father?s records and learns to sing like her idols that include Judy Garland, Shirley Bassey, and Edith Piaf.

The musical first was produced in 1992 and won six Oliver Awards spurring its film production in 1998 that starred Michael Caine and Jane Horrocks.

Starring alongside Vickers will be Marc Warren and Lesley Sharp. The show will open on October 8th on the Vaudeville Theatre stage.

Producer Nica Burns said that due to the nature of the play it is important to cast the role of Little Voice first and that finding Diana Vickers was wonderful given that she has such as strong voice for an eighteen year old.

Burns continued to say that Warren and Sharp were wonderful additions to the cast and that watching the two rehearse together there is chemistry that will make the play delightful for the audience.
