Shawshank Redemption to close

The Dave Johns and Owen O’Neill stage version of The Shawshank Redemption based on the novella by Stephen King is set to close November 29th at the Wyndham Theatre in the West End.

The play began its run on September 4th was booked to play through February 14th, 2010 originally.

Those who want to see the stage version of the famous 1994 film featuring Kevin Anderson and Reg E. Cathey will need to purchase tickets and hurry in before the show closes. The production also features direction by Peter Sheriden, lighting by Kevin Treacy, and sound by Denis Clohessy.

For those who have not seen the film or read the novel, The Shawshank Redemption is often described as a story of friendship and hope based on the main character Andy Dufresne who is sent to prison after being found guilty of murdering his wife and her lover.

While in prison he is forced to endure a hard routine, but along the way displays hope and inner courage, while also making a friend that stays by his side in the most unlikely of places.
