John Simm, known best for his work in Life on Mars on television, will return to the West End stage in the play Speaking in Tongues where he also plays a detective, so that he can spend more time with his children.
Performing in the West End gives Simm the chance to return home to live with his two children and wife in Muswell Hill. Before his return, Simm spent the last few years filming in Manchester and South Africa. He also supposedly spent some time filming for the Christmas Dr. Who special, although his lips are sealed by contract.
Simms said he will have plenty to do this autumn however with Speaking In Tongues which he noted is a script that is written very cleverly and stuck in his head until he accepted the part. Although he did emphasize in the same interview that being in London with his children is a large reason why he decided to take the role on the stage.
Speaking In Tongues is written by Andrew Bovell and is the stage version of the critically acclaimed thriller film Latana in which a detective looks into a unique case in which a psychiatrist disappears after counseling his wife.
Ian Hart will co-star in the play along with Kerry Fox who is best known for her work with Shallow Grave.
For those who want to see Speaking In Tongues, it premiers September 18th at the Duke Of York Theatre.
