50 years after Judi Dench first played Titania in A Midsummer?s Night Dream with the Royal Shakespeare Company, she will return to the stage to reprise her role at the Rose Theatre in Kingston.

The show will begin on February 15th of next year and continue to March 20th. To address the age difference, Titania will be played as an aging version of Queen Elizabeth I who has been courted by many suitors in the past but remained married to her royal subjects, ?the people of England.?

In another ironic twist, Dench has also played Elizabeth I before in the 1998 film Shakespeare in Love for which she won an Oscar.

The production of A Midsummer?s Night Dream is accredited to Peter Hall who has worked with Dench since she was a founding member of the RSC back in 1961. Outside of the Shakespeare play, they have also worked together in The Royal Family, Antony and Cleopatra, and Hay Fever.

For Dench there is no time off from the theatre, as she was on the London stage at the beginning of 2009 appearing in Michael Grandage?s Madame de Sade. Hall has also been busy this year and is currently working on his yearly season of production at the Theatre Royal Bath.

Public booking for A Midsummer Night?s Dream opens on September 14th and to help boost the sales revenues of the struggling Rose Theatre which Hall founded and Dench supports the show will only play at the venue.
